This Saturday, March 3rd we will assess the library at Chase Partnership House , managed by Catholic Charities.   It is our goal to help pull out the stale reading materials and stock the shelves with fresh materials. This will be done at the direction of the Program Director,  Kassaye Moges

On Sunday, we will pick up remainder books from Walter Johnson High School in Bethesda, MD.

When we pick up remainders from a book sale, we typically have a long pick list.
This weekend we will select books for:

Manna Food Bank (kids books, which are made available to food recipients)
Rockville Science Day (science related books)
Catholic Charities (kids books)
Mary's Center (Baby Books)
Chase Partnership House (books on various reading levels and a wide variety of interest).

We are always establishing new pick lists.  Please email: Velocity of Books if you have a special request.

The books not selected for our pick lists are given to Discover Books. http://www.discoverbooks.com . Discover books gives us a nominal amount of money (paid by weight) for the books. We are grateful for the funds, which go to pay for travel expenses and insurance.  Discover Books sells many of the books we donate to them on the Internet.  Discover Books donates all the books we've ever asked them for.   To date, this is more than 60,000 books.

It's important to note that some of the books provided to Discovery Books end up going to pulp, but we try to eliminate the pulping by getting as many books back out to the community as possible.  You can help by identifying needs for books in your community.
